Spots, stripes, swirls, bugs, blokes, girls

Desert Harmony brought 'em all out and
Gemma was on the spot ...

As usual Joie Boulter and Jean Civitarese, Tennant's very own Givenchy and Prada impressed the audience with their original, unusual and stylish designs at this year's Desert Harmony Fashion Parade. The theme 'Spots, Stripes and Swirls' was adhered to by just about all the entries, bar the occasional fruit, vegies and animals we saw gracing the catwalk.
This year was especially impressive because of the number of young people who entered - who said you have to have spent years and years mastering the art of stitch and cross work to produce a garment of either sleek or fantasia style?
Diane Leto and Sarah Henderon, were among the youngest designers this year and Diane not only impressed judges with her original designs of lollie decorated outfits, but with her dancing talents also.
A favourite with the judges' panel was Larissa Hodges's cape, effectively decorated with postage stamps and her ensemble which featured bottle tops. Adding to the effect of her pieces was the professional modelling job of Kristy Hall. Another favourite were the snakeskin outfits made by Jean Civitarese and again which were superbly showed off by her modelsSpots, stripes, swirls, bugs, blokes, girls
