Go ahead, pick my nit

The Population Health Unit within Barkly Health Services focuses on Public Health matters relating to the community. Unit staff are committed and keen to promote better lifestyle by supporting any members or agencies in the community who are wanting to carry out these activities.
Barb Shaw, Remote Services Manager for Barkly Health said, "for health promotion and awareness raising to be a success it needs to have community backing and support. One of the best ways to achieve this is to have a coordinated approach".
This month, Population Health Unit staff members, Scott Parsons and Fiona Maslin have joined with Joyce Napurrula Schroder, Anyinginyi Congress; Ann Donaldson, Barkly Health Services School Nurse; and Pat Braun, Aboriginal Health Worker Manager and the Tennant Creek Schools to carry out a head lice screening program. The program runs over two days and includes the supply of medication and health education informing children and parents on the health affects of head lice.
Barb Shaw says, "the screening will be done in a friendly and confidential environment and we will ensure those children who participate will only be those that have their parents consent. It is hoped that joint health promotion campaigns be seen as community initiatives and they be ongoing".
