a non-discriminatory organisation. The object of the T.C. raiders is
to promote and advance youth and to provide the younger population of
the Barkly region with their own facility and appropriate activities
of their own, within a safe, healthy alcohol and drug free environment.
The T.C. raiders have been providing youth support and activities for
6 years. With the completion of the new Youth and Drop-in-Centre the
Association will be working on the development of their educational
role, providing access and information for the youth regarding education,
social issues and employment.
The T.C. raiders provide social activities such as discos, roller skating,
roller discos, after school care, school holiday programs and activities,
high school basketball competitions, social outings and out of town
activities, both sporting and recreational. The Association has worked,
through its coordinator, with the communities of Elliott, Ali Curung
and Epenarra and are also well supported by the Aboriginal Hostel in
Tennant Creek.
The Association has a youth coordinator fully funded by Youth and Activity
Services, and their own bus that provides safe travel for users of the
activities and also provides travel for any communtiy based activities,
to be of benefit to the region.
The T.C. raiders are committed to keep providing youth services and
improving on its service and will also continue with activities that
help with the funding of the centre, such as the canteen at the roller
skating and the discos, raffles when the needs arise and the running
of the drink machines in the new centre.
The T.C. raiders wish to develop a sense of worth and responsibility
within the youth of the region, where they are encouraged to join in
with the running and organisation of their activities.
